KNIL helmets in stock before the war.

Welcome to my site!

I am a collector of Dutch helmets used by the armed forces, govermental organisations and civilian organisations since 1916. "Beute" helmets brought to the Netherlands by the German occupior are also included in my collection. I'm also interested in Dutch helmets used by the Romanian Army during WW2 and in Dutch helmets used in occupied Europe within various organisations.

At the moment I have about 350 helmets in my collection including helmets brought back home by Dutch soldiers from various missions over the world.

The purpose of this site is not to show of my collection of helmets, but to inform anyone interested in Dutch lids. This is the reason why not all helmets placed on this site are mine.

I'm still looking for various helmets to complete my collection. You can view the menu "wanted helmets" to get an impressioin of my wanted helmets. If you have one that you are willing to get rid of, please contact me.

My goal is to document the general history of the helmets used in the Netherlands by various organisations as there is little information about Dutch helmets avalible. Also i want to document fake helmets and insignia. To view this information you will first have to register.

Eventually, i will place information on my site concerning the models and background information concerning some placed helmets on my site. Also i am doing my best to translate all pagesin to English. This is a lot of work and could take some time!

I would like to bring the following book under your attention.

De Nederlandse stalen helm 1916-1946(ISBN 90 6707 613 9) written by drs. Kevin de Joode.

This book can also be ordered in English. Just click on the following link:

An absolute "must have" for anyone interested in Ducht lids.

At last i woukld like to say that I am the only one responsable for all information placed on my site.

Dutch Marine deployed to the Prinses Irene Brigade, 1944-1945.

Dutch UNIFIL soldier in Libanon, 1979-1985.

How does my site work.
General

I have chosen to place the diferent organisations instead of the helmet models.

At the left side you can see the different military and civilian organisations and the underneith them you can select the different helmet models.

Please remember that my collection is far from complete and therefor not all models are listed.
